How to safely heat reptile tank without creating a fire hazard?
The external heating lamps get DANG hot - too HOT in my opinion for kids to be around. Not only could a kid burn themselves on the bulb, but if they accidentally left the lamp on the carpet or even the table (after removing the reptile) I think it might cause a fire.
Everyone says not to use heat rocks in the cage because the reptile can get burned. Even postings on heat pads say they can burn the reptile and they also seem to get the table under the tank really hot.
So, what is the safest way to heat the cage for both the reptile and the kids. (Kids are 11 and 7 and they each have an Anole in their room - and we have a Ball Python in the rec room).

I had an undertank heater for anole's. The anole's can't come into contact with it and the heater is low and if they get too hot, they could climb on their rocks.
