Broken lamp?

Say you have a friend visit and she brings her 3 year old. You also have a 3 year old and together they play and get a bit rowdy and break a lamp. Both children wer equally to blame and both parents were watching, accidents happen. The stained glass shade is completely destoyed, and was sentimental.

Is the friend responsible for any of the damage?

Not really I would say nothing about it maybe say children will be children and let it go. If she is a friend worth her salt she will offer to pay half for the shade, if not just put it down to experience. But I would not count her as a good friend.
