Will this lighting mod work okay on my car?

My car has a large taillight assembly with three bulbs on the left and right side of the car each. When you push the brake pedal, the outer most and inner most bulbs get brighter but the center bulb on each side does not (it is a running lamp). What I want to do, is get a socket from another car like mine that is intended to go in one of the outer or inner most positions and make it fit in the center positions on my car and replace the single element bulb with a dual element bulb and splice the wiring with one of the nearby dual element sockets that is already existing so when I put on the brakes all three lights are lit on each side (giving me six bright lights instead of my current four).

Will this work okay and not cause the lights to become dimmer or anything? I would like to know before I go to the trouble of locating the sockets as I am not an expert electrician.

don't do that...

firstly you answered your own question. your not an expert electrician. secondly, the car was designed around the premise that the outer bulbs light up the inner bulbs don't and pending the type of vehicle it very well could cause the bulbs to go dimmer due to an improper fuse being in play, also you could splice into the wrong wire and end up creating a fire hazard waiting to happen.

If you do decide to continue on with this project find a forum that would encompass your vehicle and talk to some of the pros that do this kind of work, they'll give you all the who wats and wheres
