Dlp Lamp Dying
Shall I change the lamp?
It's an old 61" DLP TV. The picture has become very dim though still perfectly viewable in nearly dark room. Do the DLP lamps die out slowly while loosing the brightness? Or is it something else wrong with the TV. Is it possible to go for a brighter lamp than the manufacturer specification?
Yes, any replaceable lamp will lose it's brightness over time. If you replace the lamp it should go back to it's original brightness, but just like this lamp it will dim over time. It is not recommended to go with a different lamp unless the manufacturer has released an updated model for this model of TV and it would be difficult to find a lamp that fits correctly if it is not specifically designed for your TV.
